Description

*** NEW OAK LIMITED EDITION AGED VINTAGE SPIRIT ***

We are proud to share a new batch of our amazing Spirit of Cider this time Oak Aged  - our take on Calvados, for real!

ONLY 40 bottles available!

This time we took a batch of our 2021 cider, matured it for three years and then sent it to The Spirit of the Downs distillery in Bolney. They double-distilled it into what we think is our best spirit yet...

THEN

We only went an added a whole load of oak wood shavings to it (cut from an oak on the Bolney estate) and left it for seven months to mature further. The result is a delight!

The oaky notes are present the moment you open the bottle. The tannins have softened the spirit while retaining its smoothness. They’ve also imparted a long finish, so as well as the initial apple notes you now get warm wood tones and a full mouth feel.

40% Volume, 500ml bottle.

This is a unique drink, surprisingly smooth, and is packed with flavour just like the Calvados we are not allowed to call it.

Perfect for winter evenings and slow gentle contemplation: it will definitely warm the coldest of cockles.

Spirit Stats

Based on a batch produced in 2021 originally at 6.6% vol, after double distillation this is now. 40% vol.

We sent up 1000 litres and received 100 litres back. We have only made 20 litres of this oak aged variety

This batch has been matured in oak and is a rich honey colour.

The original cider was based on Cox, Bramley and Dabinet apples.

Delivery Information

We ship orders on Tuesdays and Thursdays but please allow up to seven days for delivery once you have ordered. This is because we only work on the Bignose & Beardy part time as we have other jobs the rest of the week. Often we can get an order out quicker, but we can't guarantee it.

Deliveries must be signed for by a person aged 18 or over. Drivers operate a challenge 25 policy: if you appear under 25 you will be asked for photo ID.

If you live really nearby to us (within 3 miles) we'll deliver to you for free on orders of £20 or more. Just place your order and if your postcode qualifies, free shipping will automatically be added to your order. If you end up paying for shipping by accident we'll refund the shipping and still deliver for free. What's not to love?!

(NB if you are browsing in ‘private’ mode the free shipping automatic selection does not work)

Local customers, select the pick up option on check out to avoid paying delivery charges on this order. You can collect from the Cidery on Fridays or at other times by appointment.

We work with a neighbouring business to ship our goods (as they can get better prices than we can - being bigger than us). The shipping cost is based on the total weight of your order and is automatically calculated at checkout. We can ship most products (up to 20kg) for £10.00 to the UK. Some of our products are lighter and so cost less. It can make sense to add an item to your order to make the most of the shipping costs:
