Gratitude and dapper “fits”

The apple appeal is closed!

Greetings, Ciderling!

You might be surprised to hear we haven’t always been countryside gents. Bignose (Phil) lived and worked in The Big Smoke for decades before escaping to rural Sussex. He didn’t do things by halves either. Instead of easing in, he accidentally bought an entire farm. Jumped straight into country life with both wellies. Not long after, we started Bignose & Beardy. And now, ten years into our cidermaking journey, we’re poster boys for country life. Quite literally.

Peter Christian, an actual clothing brand and a proper gentlemen’s outfitters got in touch to ask if we (Bignose & Beardy) would be up for a collaboration.

They were looking for men of a certain age who run businesses in Sussex, that might harbour a certain look. And they found us! It was a blast: picking out the clothes, doing the shoot… definitely, one of the highlights of the year.

We’re incredibly happy with the results (especially as we got to keep our natty outfits!) and our children are suitably embarrassed by it all. A win-win.

We also got a handy code for you. FDBNB25 will get you free delivery on the Peter Christian website. Check out the glorious photos and videos from our shoot, they did a cracking job. Don’t we look smart for once?

🍏Thank you so much, apple pals

Our 2025 apple appeal is CLOSED. Thanks so much to everyone who came and swapped fruit for cider. We got over seven TONNES of apples and pears donated within a two-week period. Fruit that might otherwise have gone to waste. It’s been the best harvest we’ve ever had, and we’re so grateful (and gobsmacked!) for how quickly we’ve got all the apples we can use. We did think about perhaps buying more tanks to “up” our capacity but we just don’t have the manpower or brainspace to do it this year. Perhaps if it happens again next year we’ll take it as a sign to expand! *gulp*

🍻 Tap n tours

Friday 3rd October is our last cidery tour and tap night of the year. The chill of Autumn will be nipping at our extremities by then, so wrap up warm! We also have a cidery tour on the Saturday 4th, so come along and listen to us regale you with our tales - a decade’s worth of picking, pressing, bottling mishaps and bodge-up batches.

🪚 Pruning Course

Do you know someone who’s handy with a saw? Or more importantly, someone who isn’t? We’ve set a date for our next pruning course where we teach you how best to maintain your apple trees. 7th February 2026. A unique gift for those stubbornly hard-to-buy-for types who don’t need or want any more “stuff”.

Cheers!
