Applecore 🍏❤️‍🔥

We’re hip and trendy, see?
Greetings, Ciderling!
Do you spend too much time online? If so, you might be familiar with a trend where people add “core” to a theme or topic. Often, it’s used to describe a certain “look” or trend. We’ll give you a quick rundown in case you don’t know your Tik from your Tok.Â
Cottagecore is all about a simple, rural life. YES PLEASE. This sums us up perfectly. We both escaped the big smoke and moved to rural Sussex for a simpler life. Not together, just to clarify. With Mrs Bignose and Mrs Beardy. We (Misters B&B) met in rural Sussex and made sweet, sweet cider together. And dry. And medium sweet.Â
Underconsumption core is the trend of (you’ll never believe it) using stuff you’ve already got. I know! Revolutionary! Again, YES to this. We’re big fans of the old “reduce, reuse, recycle” mantra, and we try to source secondhand and repurposed gear wherever possible.Â
So, it turns out we’re already trendy without trying. And we’re taking it one step further, introducing Applecore 🍏Â
(wait, are we meant to put a hashtag at the front? Any Gen-Zs reading, please put your answers on a postcard…a postcard is a small square of cardboard people used to send messages on in the olden days…)
Applecore is a green and red “aesthetic” with lots of trees and (obviously) apples. You can incorporate applecore into your life really easily. You just need… apples. It’s really that simple. Show us your best shots.
Â
Forgotten Fruits
In keeping with the #Applecore theme, a forgotten orchard was recently rescued from the brambles and nettles at the Newick allotment site. These apples will make their way into a Bignose & Beardy batch this year, ready for supping next Summer.Â
🌳🍏 Pick and mix
If you’re a fellow apple appreciator (and if you aren’t, well done enduring reading this far), why not come along and help with the harvest? It’s a great opportunity to meet new people. And maybe you’ll get some hardcore applecore pics for the interweb.Â
Cheers!
