Pommelier? Oui, oui. 🧐

Pommelier? Oui, oui. 🧐

Taking cider seriously.

Greetings, Ciderling!

It’ll come as zero surprise to hear we love Autumn. Cosy socks and stew. Frosty bright mornings. Wearing sunglasses and a woolly hat at the same time.

We also love autumn because it’s HARVEST SEASON! Finally, we get to see whether all that wassailing and spirit-bribing we did back in January actually worked.

But we’ll need some extra hands on deck to pick all the apples. Noooooo, it’s not exploitation. Not at all. Here are six things you get in return for the manual labour:

🍎 A go on the apple press*
🍔 Free BBQ feast
🧃 Juice to take home
🍏 As many apples as you can eat
😊 A sense of enormous wellbeing
đŸ€« In-cider secrets about how we make and bottle Bignose & Beardy cider

*operate at own finger risk

We’ve also officially launched our Apple Appeal 2024
see below. As always, we’ll give you a bottle of cider for every large shopping bag of apples you donate to our juicy cause.

You’re in the draw!

In case you’ve had your finger hovering over “unsubscribe”, here’s a reason to PLEASE DON’T LEAVE, JUST GIVE US ANOTHER CHANCE! Ahem. Sorry. What we mean to say is, if you’re reading this in our email newsletter you’re entered into our monthly prize draw. We’ll mix up the prize each month but rest assured it’ll be delicious, whatever it is. Keep an eye on our social media to find out what you might win just by doing nothing.

Phil’s course (Pommelier)

We had a bit of good fortune recently when Bignose aka Phil won a Pommelier course with The Ciderologist! We already offer tastings at our Cidery Tours (new dates for 2025 btw
) and one-off events. We like to think we know what we’re talking about. But we’re humble enough (honest!) to be open to learning more. Turns out there’s a whole barrelful of knowledge we’re missing. We’ll report back after Phil’s honed his famous schnoz’s sniffing skills.

🚜🍏 Apple appeal

We’ve already started to get apples in by the literal sackload. Each year, we invite local folk to donate their surplus apples to get juiced and abandoned (nature does the fermenting for us)

We got a massive haul from the newly discovered Newick Allotment orchard! Can’t wait to see how the cider turns out.

And finally, now the weather’s gone a bit chilly, shameless plug for our cider mulling kit. You can use it with apple juice too for an alcohol-free winter - we mean, Autumn - warmer.

Film, food and fun times

Locals - we’re at Barcombe Nurseries this Saturday 21st September (6:30pm) for a food and film night. We’ll enjoy a meal cooked using the farm’s produce, then watch a screening of Six Inches of Soil. Tickets are just £20, book yours here.

Cheers!
