🍕🎶🍻

Greetings, Ciderling!

Our first tap night of 2024 is THIS Friday 3rd May! Come along to try our THREE new ciders 🍻

One of the many (many, many, many) fun bits of running Bignose & Beardy is getting to name each freshly fermented batch.

…some days it don't come easy. And some days it don't come hard. Some days it don't come at all and these are the days that never end.

Luckily, this time it came easy. Actually, it comes easy most times.

Just don’t tell our wives, they think we’re working really hard.

Here’s a peep inside our brains…

Ugly Dog
We introduced this last time; we were slightly short of cider for this batch so Phil said “well I had to take a little bit from each batch to top it up”. It’s a bit of a mongrel. But like most mongrels, it’s a good natured beast.

Shelter From The Storm
This one is exceptionally https://www.stardustmusicduo.com/ DRY, get it? If you’re thinking “oh, like the Bob Dylan song”...you are our people. If you didn’t get the Dylan reference, it’s never too late to educate yourself

Ridgeback
We went BACK for some apples from Laurel Tree Farm at Boars Head and mixed them with apples from Gill RIDGE. Sometimes the answer is right in front of you.

The new batches are available to buy on the website now, and you can try them at the Tap Nights.

We wouldn’t dreeeeam of guaranteeing good weather (look how it turned out for Michael Fish, he’s never lived it down)… but the BBC website says 0% chance of rain during the event itself. The sun is even due to peep out from behind the clouds. Dress warm and we definitely recommend you leave your stilettos at home though, it’s been a soggy week. And take a hayfever tablet on your way here if you’re prone to pollen. The blossom is officially out 🌸

Beer gardens are so 2008

It’s all about the cider fields now. We're going to sound like a stuck record here. But we really love getting people together over great food, music and cider.

And our tap nights combine all three! It's one of the great side benefits of running a cidery, so we're excited for the 2024 tap night season to start 🙌🏻

There’s free parking, and posh soft drinks so even the drivers feel like they’re having a proper, treaty, grown-up night out.

This Friday we're joined by Pioppi Pizza with music from our friends Stardust Music Duo, so you can make a whole evening of it. Or a whole day of it, if you want to come and tour the cidery first.

Farmy News

Farmy news

It’s lambing season, so Phil (aka Bignose) got the sheep shearer in to trim the ewes ready for their impending motherhood. Always such an exciting time of year!

Did you know, our friends at The Traditional Cheese Dairy have a 24-hour cheese vending machine? Dreams can come true 🤩 It’s at their base, Burnt House Farm, Heathfield TN21 0PG

And lastly we’ve put a few orchard picking dates in the diary. If you’d like to come and help with the harvest, have a chat about cidermaking, or just get a bit of exercise, come and join us

Hope to see you on Friday. Until then…cheers!
