Sand Collab
Jun 19, 2026
Back in the autumn we were approached by the team at the Sand Project to explore whether we could offer work experience for one of their students. The Sand Project is a very special college for young people whose needs mean mainstream education is difficult.
We agreed to work with Jake to design and develop some new products for the Cidery together. As the project developed we found ways to link up with a number of other learning pathways including the woodworking, photography and video teams. Working steadily over ten months we explored a number of possibilities before settling on two elements that made sense logistically, financially and contextually. You can see the products live throughout the Bignose & Beardy shop. they are collected together here Here's what Jake has to say about the project:
Hello, my name is Jake C., and I have had the privilege of working as a trainee alongside Bignose & Beardy to create this special collaboration. Every two weeks, 1 have met with Steve from Bignose & Beardy to discuss and develop a unique hamper to complement their delightful cider.
I have always been passionate about business, and this collaboration has provided me with invaluable skills and experience that will help me establish my own business in the future. The Sand Project has supported me through some challenging times, offering encouragement when I needed it most. By supporting thess hamper products, you are helping people like me gain confidence to enter the workplace and develop the expertise to start their own ventures. Thank you, and most importantly, enjoy the cider!
More on the Sand Project:
At The sand Project, we help young people with life and learning challenges find meaningful employment by teaching them essential work and business skills. These range from customer-facing roles in our café and shop to creative pathways such as art and creative writing. We believe that everyone has potential, and having additional needs does not limit a person's ability to contribute-it may simply mean they need a little extra support to reach their full potential. With time and care, we dim to transform how young adults with additional needs view work and their future.
This collaboration with Bignose & Beardy is an exciting opportunity for us to showcase some of the products we work hard to create. We bring creative ideas and unique products to the hampers, adding variety and a distinct touch to the traditional hamper format. We are honoured to have this chance to share our story and talents with the world.
