Ripening fruit - Flavour Experiments - Last Tap Night
Aug 01, 2023
The early variety apples are starting to turn red and slowly ripen – we have an apple called ‘Discovery’ at B&B HQ - this always tells us when the pressing season is not too far away. It’s a reminder that we need to start getting organised and prepared – empty tanks to be cleaned and equipment to be checked.
We are expecting a pretty good crop this year – some trees have little or no fruit, but most are absolutely loaded.
BBQ and summer party / festival season is in full swing – cider has been regularly flowing from the doors of the cidery to help fuel the summer fun.
We have been experimenting with a few summer flavours for our cider – last year we made two batches of cider with additional ‘non-permitted’ ingredients – this technically puts these batches into the world of wine production – any ciders with fruity flavours are wine in the eyes of HMRC. This isn’t something we originally planned to do – but we have relented to the pressure from customers and later this year may see the launch of Bignose & Beardy Fruity.
Our last Tap Room date for Summer 2023 is Friday 1st September – building in popularity, we have two live music acts for this last session of the season – should be a good one!
Tickets are available on the ‘events’ section of the shop – we would love to see you!
This will also be the date for the last ‘Cidery Tour & Tasting’ of 2023 – we have had lots of great feedback and comments on how much the previous tours have been enjoyed – each have lasted around 2 hrs finishing with plenty of the hard stuff!
